Courier and Interlibrary loan services

A book courier runs daily (Mon-Fri) between the HSG library and the Hauptpost Library.

You can order documents and pick them up from the library of your choice after you have received the pickup notification by email: 

•  from the collection of the Cantonal- and City-Library of St. Gallen
•  from the collection of the HSG Library

This service is free of charge. The borrowing regulations of the delivery library apply.

HSG-documents can be ordered via HSGswisscovery. To do so, log in with your edu-ID and select the pick-up location "SGKBV Bibliothek Hauptpost" under "Further request options".

HSG and Hauptpost documents can be returned free of charge in both libraries. The return transport takes two days at the most. To prevent costs for overdue notifications, these two days must be included in the loan period. In the respective courier library, documents can be physically returned but the document is still on loan in the user account until it arrives at the owning library.

You can order HSG documents from the storage library “Speicherbibliothek” and documents from swisscovery or swisscovery plus by courier to the HSG library. You can also pick up documents from the HSG library (including those located at the Speicherbibliothek) at one of the SLSP courier libraries.

• The cost of this service is CHF 6.- per document.
  Exception: Deliveries of HSG documents from the Speicherbibliothek to the HSG library are free of charge.
• The delivery time is generally 2-3 working days (Mon-Fri). You will receive a notification sent by email as soon as the document is ready for pickup.
• Documents must be picked up within a week.
• The delivery costs will be paid upon collection on site. The pickup library also charges CHF 6.- for documents that have not been collected.
• Documents already ordered via the SLSP courier can be returned free of charge to all participating courier libraries. The transfer slip, which is enclosed in the book when it is picked up, must be presented upon return.
• Documents that have been picked up in the owning library cannot be returned to another library via courier.
• Documents ordered and loaned via SLSP courier must be returned to the owning librar - again via SLSP courier - after the maximum loan period has expired. It is not possible for the pick-up library to check them out to the same customer once again.

You can have documents sent directly to your home in swisscovery.

In swisscovery, "Home address" (or "Office address") is selected as the pickup location. The system forwards your order to a library with an available document. This document will then be sent to you directly by the owning library by B Mail. Delivery to Swiss postal addresses costs CHF 12.- per document.

Note

• The document will be delivered to your address as given in your user account after 3-4 working days. You will receive a delivery notification by email.
• Pay the fees the next time you visit the library or wait for the invoice which will be sent to you by email.

If you are looking for a book that is not in any library, or you cannot place the order yourself, we will be happy to order it for you.

This service involves a charge and can take several days or even weeks depending on the library supplying the book. To carry out your inter-library loan order for you, we need a few details. Please fill in this form.

Notice

Swiss Copyright Law does not allow copying a full book. However, copying of essays, articles and excerpts is allowed. The library will duplicate a maximum of 50 pages.

In case the desired article is not available in our library nor in swisscovery, or cannot be ordered by you personally, we will be happy to help you.
